HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE, Daniel Radcliffe, 2009
The Most Wonderful Wizards of All
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" debuted this week, and the latest installment in the hit series is, not surprisingly, raking in the cash. Wasn't it just yesterday that we first met Daniel Radcliffe's young wizard in "The Sorcerer's Stone"? But the Boy Who Lived seems to have magically grown into a man capable of battling He Who Must Not Be Named and saving both the magic and the Muggle worlds from his dark plan. Yes, Harry surely is the most wonderful wizard of all, but there have been so many enchanters before him who've cast their spells on us that we couldn't resist taking a look back at their magical deliciousness: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Chopergirl said "I have always loved her. She has been a very good part of entertainment - I remember when she was in Roots. AND then CHEERS, and then the talking babies with John Travolta. My gosh, we all have problems, and with those come stress eating at times...She is beautiful regardless of what she weighs, and not only physically beautiful, but also beautiful inside. She has had her heart broke just like the rest of us, and struggles like the rest of us....to bad people expect her to be perfect as that is what imperfect people like to see - someone perfect to make them feel better. Projecting their OWN disappointment onto others, in some sick way, makes them feel a little better. That is a terrible post about her. I will watch her show."
Sardonica said "How is she anymore a train wreck than ANY body else, celebrity or not? We all have our issues. She is at least trying to better herself, not trash those around her, or laugh at the misfortunes of others. You're as bad as Perez. YOU are the one that needs to get a life, not her. "
ratt said "Don't the people who read this crap have anything at all better to worry about? Is it REALLY any of your concern what this movie star or that musician is up to in their personal lives? Did any of you useless tabloid bottom feeding twats notice that I used the word PERSONAL? Not likely, because the people that read this stuff don't think anyone has a life that they can't have access to. A word for those who have nothing better to do than concern themselves about others in the spotlight... pathetic."
jesslisby said "rynn phillips needs to get over his self...he is the one whom made his own problems. mabye if he kept his pants on and didn't treat his wife at the time with such disregaurd, he might still have full custody of his children, and a wonderful wife..look what you traded down for. but bravo to reese...look who she traded up for."

UM....HELLO?????????? NO FREAKING GANDALF ON THIS LIST???????????? Where the hell are you from anyway, Mordor? Your list was about WIZARDS. Not witches. Not silly B-movie one-time characters. WIZARDS. To leave off Gandalf the White, aka Mithrandir, aka the Grey Pilgrim, aka The White Wizard, aka Incanus, aka Stormcrow, aka Olorin, aka Tharkun, a powerful Maiar and savior of all Middle-Earth is UNFORGIVABLE.

I think Endora from Bewitched was pretty powerful. And...Samantha was pretty good as well.

Per the movie, isnt Glinda the good witch of the North?
"most wonderful wizards of all", psht! I agree, they could come up with some better candidates.

I agree with all who said some of the best were left out, Willow from BtVS should have been in the top five along with Gandalf followed by the Charmed sisters. Also Merlin is an all time favorite, even better then Glenda.

No Gandalf or Merlin but the gals from Practical Magic? Who writes this crap? BTW - A witch is not a wizard (not even a male witch, that's a warlock) - you could have included Boris Karloff from The Raven - and how about the witches from Charmed if we are going that way? Terrible article.

In the original books , as stated above, Glinda was the good witch of the south and the Good witch of the North was not named. In the movie, the two roles were basically combined and the Northern Witch was renamed Glinda. Of course, if you read the Gregory Maguire books ('Wicked'), all this is turned on its head.
I think Witch and Wizard can be used interchangeably at this point, but regardless leaving Gandalf off the list is fairly unforgivable. Also, where is Willow from 'Buffy'.
